Demon Owl

My husband is Mexican and shortly after we met, he told me about a supernatural creature that's native to his culture. It's called Lachusas (sp) and it's a winged demon that can also take shape as an owl. Basically they fly around and hide in the trees and stalk people until it's the right time, then they invade their minds and homes and the victim often sees things or hears voices whispering sinister things to them until the Lachusas has gone. They are evil creatures and they prey on those with strong Christian faith, trying to strike fear and doubt in them.

Around the first of the year, I awoke in the middle of the night to feel my husband struggling and mumbling to himself. Next thing I know, he shoots out of bed in a rage and punches a hole in our wall! When I asked him what the hell was going on, he told me there was a Lachusas in the room standing over him trying to strangle him and that the whispers in his head were telling him I was next. He gathered all the faith and strength that he could and backed the creature up against the wall and punched it in the face. I didn't see the creature, but he said that after the punch it sort of evaporated anyway. When we turned on the light, we could see that he was bleeding from where his fist hit it's tooth, and that the hole in the wall wasn't from my husband's hand, but the back of the Lachusas's head.

Oh, forgot to mention, the skeletal creatures appeared to be wearing gold plates, fancy jewelery or armor, I couldn't tell. Headdresses that looked like something an aztec might wear, but different at the same time.

didn't notice any weapons, just the armor. Looked ritualistic.

When I was about 7 years old, my brother had a friend named Tyrone. Him and my brother would always buy these kinder egg toys. I saw them one day and asked my brother if I could play with them, he said "Wait your turn", so I waited. I asked him again several hours later, he said he lent them to Tyrone and when he returned them I could play with them. The next day, Tyrone was outside talking with my brother, he said he put them in the mailbox so I checked. Nothing in there, so I continued about my day.

That night, I had just laid down as I heard a voice.

The voice said "Tyrone never came to your house" in a way I'd never heard before. I was in complete awareness, not even drowsy, I stood up to look for where the voice was coming from. I walked to the end of my room, looked both ways in the hallway and saw nothing. When I turned around there was a horrifying owl faced creature staring at me. The second I saw it I couldn't move, it was like the creature had taken over my body. It's eyes started swirling with spirals and it screamed at me like a banshee. About 30 seconds went by, and I could move again, the creature had vanished away, but I wasn't the same. I tried to scream, but my voice was a whisper, I tried to smash things to wake my parents but my arms slipped through material. I couldn't walk fast, it was like I was under water. I went into my living room because I was too afraid to stay in my bedroom, there I saw three skeletal creatures. They didn't appear to be made out of bone, they seemed like they were made out of light.

They spoke in a language I didn't understand, casually among themselves as if they didn't even notice me. I can't remember too much what happened next. The day after, I heard the same voice "Tyrone never came to your house". This time I ran like the wind into my parents bedroom while covering my eyes. I hid underneath their window all night.

The weekend came by, my mother was outside in the back yard, she called me to look at an owl that was up in our pine tree. There has never been an owl in that tree before or after that day.

The part that freaks me out, judging by the height of my window, and the fact there was no place for a bird to perch, I'd say the creature was between 8 and 9 feet tall.

I've been telling people about this experience since it happened, I've probably typed this at least 1,000 times. That's probably underestimated actually.

I don't know why I even bother.

i have heard of something similar in Japanese myth its name escapes me but basically it turns from an owl into a human and steals the souls of children. in the myth it was struck in the foot with an archers arrow as it attacked a child in the night and then latter they found a woman that was hurt on her ankle and then admitted to what she was and was killed.

Vhurgoe, what the heck do you keep rambling about? Something about a kid drawing a face over and over, a posessed couple and cat that may or may not have jumped into a well, and the occasional comment on my story that never quite ties back to what happened in it....um, are you okay?

I also think that the owl might be some type of technology that blocks a memory from being remembered... like a face that gets covered and made into a new face.

anyway... the owl... just chill him out and tell him to stop being so forcefull and dependant... the owls tend to show up around aggression in the mind. So if he punched a hole in the wall he did it himself or the owl delivered my attitude lol

i think the cat might have been possessed by the original cat korn because metallica and korn were played back to back right before this happened and a couple yrs ago korn disapeared from the property.

Hey!!! I think you may have a real case. The owl seems a little exagerated in what it looks like but after it showed up i had an angel flash it's wings at me. And my little sisters drawing a face repeatively like the ring and the cats acted out a falll in a well with the hay after one of my cats hid and we have to look in the well tomorrow. well i'm going to when it gets light out.

I am very familure with this. They are shapeshifters, aka witches & warlocks, and yes, they do attack Christians, or family of prayer warriors.

i'm also of mexican descent (but not a strong religious backgruond) and have heard of this! (and maybe seen some?) my mom would always tell us to come inside when i'd see owls. The correct name is Lechuza and they're also called "witchbirds". I've heard they're witches that appear as large owls that lurk around when witchcraft has been used. I've also heard that they are capturable with string somehow but not sure bout the details...

my grandmother was hardcore chistian, but she was also from mexico and she told alot of storys about that kind of stuff, she only saw the lachusa a couple of times, but she also saw a lot of otherthings, confirmed by my tias and tios.

I also had a friend in the army (chago) who,s mother, was a witch in mexico, and she would catch lachusas with red thread and chanting to make them do things for her.

sounds to me like it was just an episode of sleep paralysis, and when he broke out of it, a manifestation of his dream remained for a moment until he punched the wall. and i'd bet you anything the hole in the wall was from his fist, and the cut on his knuckle was from the wall.

cool story, though.

To bubbles, uh, thanks? No, really, it's so funny to me that some people comment to these stories saying "Oh, that's crap!" or "I like to remain skeptical, do you have proof?" It doesn't make an ounce of sense to me that a person would come on here and make something up for shits and giggles, people are here to share their stories and gain some perspective. Not to be called a liar, or a dumb kid with an imagination. (sorry, I've seen some outright awful accusations in the comments of other stories, and it makes me want to slap them FOR the people who were bold enough to share. What are closed-minded pricks even DOING on this site?) So again, thanks.

well your husband did the right thing to snap out of it. ive been under the effects of sleep paralysis nymerous times and your husbands story is creepily similar to how i always power through to break it. makes me wonder about all those trips to the woods ive taken over the years, wonder if any owls followed me home (dad's a pastor and im the strongest christian most of my friends know. even done some exorcist work being as how ive dealt with paranormal since i could remember). the disipation is normal, but still fun to watch. the main thing to keep in mind is, just because it dissipated doesn mean its gone.

The only demon owls I've heard of before would be the one called Stolas. But this sounds VERY different from him.

well Shadow, unfortunately the hole does not still exist, we had to have maintenance repair it before we left the apartment. Had I been a part of this website before or while it happened, I definitely would have snapped a picture for ya'll. I could maybe describe it in more detail: The indention was a little bigger around than a grapefruit and about 3-4 inches deep...it kind of tapered in at the deepest point, like a wedge, which is like the shape of the back of the creature's head. I do know that he wasn't just dreaming and hit the wall himself, because there was blood on his knuckles, but not on the wall.

Does the hole in the wall still exist? If so is it possible to get a picture?

I find it strange how people of different cultures tend to have the same/similar lores around them follow them rather than encounter localized spirits/creatures. Very interesting.

I don't know about reports, and I've only talked about it with a few other people of Mexican descent, but they've all heard similar stories, although none have ever claimed to have their own encounters. But, remember what I said about them preying on those with strong Christian faith? Turns out, they've followed my father in law and his family from Texas all the way to Kansas and back, and everywhere they've moved in between. Now they follow my husband as well. I've never seen one in the demon form, but I've heard them follow me above in the trees by our old apartment and seen a huge white owl (not exactly a common sight in Texas) watching me in the lot where I walked my dog.

Whoa... I never heard of this Demon Owl before.

Has there been any other reports of this creature around your area around the same time as your experience?
