I Believe
Well, all I can say is this event occurred in the year of '79 in Deatsville, Ky. I was 6 years old and my cousin Steven was 8. I was staying with my aunt and uncle that particular weekend because my fathers younger brother was in a hospital in Frankfort, ky, in the last stages of terminal cancer. Both of my parents were staying at the hospital because the doctors said that he could go at any time. So, I was left in the care of my aunt and uncle. This particular night my aunt and uncle were staying up late watching some old movie on television, so we asked if we could go back in their room and play until time to go to bed. You see, they had this big queen size bed with a very soft mattress, which we loved to jump on and wrestle. Often enough, our wrestling would get us into trouble. My aunt said we could but also told us under the same breath, But there'd better not be any wrestling going on, or you're going to sleep. So, we promised no wrestling, but, you know how little boys are, and it wasn't long afterwards we started, And, it wasn't even long after that we could hear her coming from the living room, cursing, as she stomped up the hallway. She threw open the door and told us to go to sleep until time for she and my uncle to go to bed, turned the light out and slammed the door. And let me state first, the only way into that room was that door and NO WAY, could any one open it up and sneak in there to scare us.
Back, in the day there uses to be an old show on television entitled Fright Night theatre, that would show old black and white universal monster movies. We decided to scare one another by saying fright night, fright night , and then, wed, cover our heads and giggle, and do it again. This went on for a while, I suppose, until, while my head was still covered up, my cousin screamed, LOOK!!!, I did and what I saw will haunt me til the day that I die, Pacing the floor not 10 feet away was a glowing pink night gown, which normally wouldn't be scary except for the fact that there wasn't any one inside it. (almost looked like a hologram) it was oblivious to the fact that we were even there. I remember we both were screaming bloody murder and I was crying. I recall , just peeking out for a split second, and it was still there. And then I remember hearing my aunt cussing again as she stomped up the hallway and throwing open the door, highly pee-owed!! Between the time she got to the room and opened the door, it or she, I guess, had already disappeared.
So that's how I came to be obsessed with the paranormal. I was at that fragile young age where you just start to believe in things like the monster under the bed, the demon in the closet, or maybe even the hideous witch, perched outside of your window, waiting to snatch you away in the night.
All of that now had now changed and I realized yes, there are things that go bump in the night.
