Death from a broken heart..
I've never posted a story online before, but I've told this story numerous times to my friends and such. To this day, the memories still haunts me a little.
I'ved moved house so many times I've lost count, but one house sticks in my memory more than any other. I moved to a really old Irish country house, in Raheen, but for weeks before the move I had been having terrible dreams. I simply did not want to step into that house, and I had an immense feeling of dread everytime i thought about it. So, I stayed at my friends house for 3 days, putting it off and procrastinating until my parents demanded I come "home"..
The noises began around nine.. My mother and I stayed up until around one, just listening. Bangs and creaks.. I was freaking and couldn't do anything about it. My mother said to go to bed, and try to get my mind off it. I found my room was shaped like an "L", and the door was around the corner from my bed. I was falling asleep when i started hearing something. I was hearing the sound in the room widening, as if someone was opening the door. But noone came in. This kept happening, I could hear the hallway perfectly and then I'd hear the door close again. I crept up to the corner and waiting for the door to open, then I peaked around the corner and the door was closed. This confused me as I could hear it opening and closing right in front of me. Chills ran up my spine and I threw the door open and there was noone there.
I went downstairs and brought my mother upstairs. She could hear it too, as we sat looking at the door. She couldnt explain it but believed something strange and supernatural was happening. She left after a while with a promise that it would all be ok. I was sitting there a while longer and i noticed an eery blue light coming from the direction of the door. But again, I look around the corner, and the blue shade is there but I can't find where it's emanating from..
I fell asleep with one eye open that night.. I awoke hours later and again I hear the door opening. Sighing loudly, I begin to turn over in bed but the door doesn't close.. I hear this shuffling noise, and this old woman walks around the corner, and peers out the window. I'm frozen in place, breath caught in my throat, I notice she has short hair, is dressed all in pink, with little fluffy slippers and is slightly transparent. Then without even glancing at me, she turns slowly around and walks out of the room.. The noises stopped for good..
We left that house 3 months later, on to greener pastures. However, the morning after the visit i walked to the local shop, to get some stuff for breakfast and I decided to spill my guts to the old lady at the shop. Ms. Fox, the shopkeeper, gasped and told me that was her old friend Maggie. Maggie died at 98 years old, a month before we moved in, it was her house. Ms. Fox said she died unhappy, and lost. "She was always looking out the window for her two sons, who never visited.".
He was one of the sons.
