Some Games Shouldn't Be Played... (pt.1)

Though this was not my first experience with using, or people misusing a Ouija board; this was certainly one of the most... "interesting". Understand as you read this story, that certain elements may sound humorous and therefore may lead you to conclude that this story is untrue... but I ask that you hear it out in it's entirety, and you can make your decision afterward.

I left my Ouija over at a friends house at their behest, though I thought better of it at the time. I had always gotten a strong reaction out of it, and I feared they might do the same. In the end, I left them with a handful of stern warnings and suggestions for protection.

Around 3am I was awakened by the sound of someone beating on my front door, and my mother beating on my bedroom door. Apparently something had happened, and my friends absolutely were NOT going to go back to the apartment without me.

I apologized to mom, and went out to the car, where I was bombarded with 5 stories at once about what had happened. It seems my friend had not heeded my warnings about becoming drunk, or smoking cigarettes around the board, nor had they listened to my cautions about angering spirits.

Most of them had become rather drunk, and decided they were going to summon a spirit... it didn't take them long to get one. Other than being drunk, they encircled the board in cigarette smoke, and one of them spilled his drink on the board. The spirit became very hostile after this... but my friends felt they had nothing to fear, and goaded and teased the spirit until the planchette stopped moving. After a few moments, they laughingly asked the spirit it's name, to which the spirit replied; "Ben Dover". Needless to say, they found that incredibly funny, and one of them began mocking the spirit and calling him names that suggested he was of a homosexual nature. While he was laughing, he doubled over... and suddenly he was not laughing anymore. Something had grabbed him by the throat and lifted him a few feet off the ground, holding him there for a few seconds, while the others screamed and scattered... then it dropped him.

As you might have guessed, they then came to my house and dragged me out of bed to go and "fix" the problem. When we got to the apartment, I noticed a thick black cloud squeezing itself out from between the door and the jamb... it quickly slid across the wall and around the corner as a shadow would, and disappeared... No one else seemed to notice this. After entering the apartment, I decided to check out where it had happened, and noticed a few long scratches going up the wall... apparently where the spirit had grabbed our friend, and picked him up... I then asked to look at where the spirit had grabbed him, and saw similar scratches on his neck.

By now the drunken mob was angry and wanting revenge... but instead I told them they had brought this on themselves by ignoring my warnings... but I would do what I thought would keep the spirit from returning; I would destroy the board.

This task took until dawn, and in all honesty; was never finished...
I spoke a prayer for protection of the house, and we removed the board to the balcony... there we emptied an entire can of zippo lighter fluid onto the board, lit it, but it would not burn. The flames fell off the board like we were running water over it. We continued to try, but to no avail. Finally, I broke the board in half over the railing, and threw it in the garbage... as far as I know it worked... because I never heard anything different from them.

Well, the ones who continued to talk to me after that occurred, that is.

When I was a kid I had a friend who's mother bought him a Ouija board for christmas. I would say he was about 10 years old at the time. After he had been playing with it for awhile strange things started happening anytime he opened the box. So he asked me to look at it well I knew from experience (my brothers had one to) that the back of the board was smooth and grainy looking. The board this kid had was covered with all kinds of little holes all over it but still smooth to the touch. We tried to throw it in the trash but the next day it had returned to it's box (at first we thought his mother had found it and put it back.) We tried to set it on fire but that didn't work , and we had even tried to break it but that didn't work either. We had some of the adults we lived around helping us and when it would not break they finally called a priest to come and listen to the problems he was having. I am not real certain what exactly happened but I know that they had finally gotten rid of the board. Needless to say he has never touched one since.

I'd rather it just vanish, as there could be other reasons for it; like someone putting it up or getting rid of it.

The truly scary thing is when you get rid of it and it returns... because then you know for sure that you don't have control of the situation.

@ Andy:

The sad thing is; they sell the boards as if they were a simple game like Monopoly, giving everyone a chance to become a portal for the low price of $21.

Makes you wonder who's running Parker Bros., doesn't it?

I've seen and heard this type of story all too much. It is very simple....don't touch a Ouija Board, don't play a Ouija Board...don't even look at a Ouija Board.

It's one, big invitation to extremely uninvited guests.

Where do you think that movies producers got the idea for "The Exorcist"?

When you mess with this stuff, you are opening portals and inviting very bad things in.

I'm so upset when I hear these stories.

It seems like a harmless and fun game. It's not.

Andy

I've posted one other story about the use/misuse of Ouija boards, and I have one other to post, but that's it, thus far. I don't know if you were ever a member of TAPS forums, but I had posted about it there as well, though it's been a year or two since doing so.

Sounds familiar... did you post this story elsewhere? I think I've actually told this story to someone else before. lol

It's a shame that it sometimes takes the traumatizing events to teach some people respect.
